Campaigns
Inspire coordinate and deliver campaigns as a core remit of our work. We aim to increase awareness within Muslim communities and wider society and to remove barriers facing vulnerable people using different mediums and resources. Setting up of local Muslim women’s networks.
The programme aims to develop the skills of Muslim women to motivate them to become community leaders and champions. This is done via a series of training programmes that lead to the setting up of locally based and locally led Muslim Women’s Networks. Inspire acts as a catalyst by inspiring women to organise themselves to support families and social circles by:
- Providing a forum for women on a social and educational level
- Serving the local community and contributing positively to it through social action
- Developing links with key stake-holders within the community
Community Cohesion and Integration
In a rapidly evolving Britain, Inspire aims to do its part in promoting community cohesion and integration. We partner with the private, statutory and voluntary sector to offer taylor made programmes and projects to increase awareness, appreciation and interaction within civic society.
Inspire believe the strength of societies lies at the grassroots when individuals and communities take responsibility for their actions and aim to make a positive contribution. By building the Big Society together, we can help achieve a fairer Britain for all.
Tacking Extremism and the Prevent Agenda
Inspire believes that increased support for extremism amongst small vulnerable groups of young men and women is a result of social exclusion, compounded by grievances and anger over home and foreign policy which is exploited by violent ideologues. The threat that violent extremism poses is indeed real and a challenge for us all. We are passionate in our approach of working in the heart of communities to meet this challenge. We have a track record of raising awareness within communities and engaging with local, regional and national bodies within government. In particular we offer training on how extremism arises amongst vulnerable people and practical methods of dealing with it including theological counter-narratives to extremist propaganda.
Human Rights and Gender Equality
Inspire seeks to raise awareness of human rights legislation in order to build social equality and to encourage access to better opportunities for many of the most marginalised members of our society. We offer this service as an integral part of community training or as standalone training delivered in seminars and workshops.
Muslim women are often sidelined within the Muslim community, from a misguided emphasis on their private domestic roles to the absence of Muslim women in public life. Inspire strives to reduce this gender inequality gap by educating both men and women with respect to citizenship, human rights and contemporary theology around Muslim women.
