JIHAD AGAINST VIOLENCE
HOME > JIHAD AGAINST VIOLENCEIslam instead of being seen as a religion of peace, has now become synonymous with violence and all things negative including the oppression of women. We believe we can no longer sit in silence while we watch our faith being used to justify crimes. It is our duty to make our voices heard and to reclaim our faith so that Islam is no longer hijacked by those who preach hatred and who carry out acts of violence.
We must affirm peace and act with courage to establish mercy and justice amongst humanity. This is our Jihad Against Violence, our Jihad for Peace.

What is Jihad Against Violence?
“Jihad Against Violence: Muslim Women’s Struggle for Peace” is the first statement of the global Muslim women’s Shura Council, an all women’s advisory council that promotes women’s rights within an Islamic framework. A combined study and condemnation of violent extremism and domestic violence, “Jihad against Violence” addresses two critical issues that are typically assumed to be separate.

What is Jihad Against Violence UK?
Jihad Against Violence is a campaign, driven by Muslim women in standing up to:
- Violence experienced by women and girls in the UK
- All forms of violence including terrorism and violent extremism
The voices of British Muslim women need to be heard loud and clear; we believe Jihad Against Violence UK demonstrates Muslim women’s commitment in tackling violence especially by those who commit violence in the Name of Islam. Jihad Against Violence is dedicated to reclaiming the word ‘jihad’ back from violent extremists who have misused this word to justify terrible crimes. Inspire is a proud partner in the Jihad Against Violence campaign, produced by the Global Muslim Women’s Shura Council; a program of the American Society for Muslim Advancement.
